For most of Travisso's first decade, "grabbing something quick" meant a 15-minute drive down RM 2222 to Cedar Park, or a longer haul over to 183A. The homes came first, the amenities followed, and the restaurants took their time. That gap is closing in 2026. Between the Ronald Reagan Boulevard corridor and Crystal Falls Parkway, four new restaurants have opened this spring alone, a mixed-use anchor is under construction two exits from the Travisso gate, and a handful of names Travisso residents have been asking about for years now have permits and opening windows.

What Actually Opened This Spring
Three of these are within roughly ten minutes of the Travisso Parkway entrance. One is a longer drive but worth mapping now because it fills a category Leander has been missing.

First Watch is the most useful addition for anyone who has been driving to Cedar Park for a Saturday breakfast that isn't a chain pancake house. The restaurant, located at 19389 Ronald W. Reagan Blvd, #500, brings a chef-inspired menu and rotating seasonal offerings to a 4,000-square-foot space that seats 168 people and features a covered patio and an interior bar. First Watch is open 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily for pickup, delivery and dine-in service. The daytime-only model matters here. It means the covered patio is usable in the morning shoulder hours before the July heat sets in, and it means the parking lot is quiet by dinner if you'd rather pick up.
Willie's Grill & Icehouse landed in late March. Willie's Grill & Icehouse brings together the best of Texas cuisine, according to its website, including southern cajun dishes, Tex-Mex and burgers made in-house. The menu includes comfort food like chicken fried steak, onion rings and fried pickles. The Houston-based restaurant also has locations in Kyle, Pflugerville, College Station and Georgetown. It slots into the category Travisso residents have quietly resented driving to Round Rock for: a casual sit-down icehouse with a real patio and cold beer.
Zeytun Mediterranean Grill is the sleeper. Zeytun Mediterranean Grill now brings Persian and Mediterranean cuisine to Leander, moving into the former home of Aparacios. Officially opened on March 24, the restaurant prioritizes a unique blend of flavors to the Austin area. The restaurant offers a variety of halal dishes, including gyros, kabobs and pasta. Additionally, the $9.95 lunch special includes any chicken kabob plate or wrap with a choice of rice. One of the most popular items is the family platter, which includes chicken kabob and beef koobideh served with basmati rice, homemade hummus, fresh salad, tzatziki and pita bread, priced at $39.95 and designed for a party of four. A $39.95 family platter that actually feeds four is a rare Leander price point right now.
What's Under Construction, and When to Expect It
Three names have been circulating in Travisso group chats for a year. All three are moving from rumor to concrete this summer.
Hopdoddy Burger Bar is the closest to opening. In late June, construction on a new Hopdoddy Burger Bar in the Gateway 29 development between Leander and Georgetown is expected to be complete. Hopdoddy Burger Bar, a specialty burger restaurant with a full bar, has seven locations in the Austin Area. Gateway 29 is a longer drive than the Ronald Reagan corridor, but it's on the way to Georgetown Square, which makes it a natural stop on any weekend that already involves a run north.
Tacodeli has been the most-requested Austin export among Travisso residents. A longtime Austin staple, Tacodeli is expanding into Leander with construction planned in 2026 and opening expected later in the year. Known for its handcrafted tacos, signature salsas, and locally sourced ingredients, Tacodeli is one of the most anticipated restaurant additions in the area.
Chuy's rounds out the Tex-Mex bench. Leander's restaurant landscape is also getting a boost from Chuy's, which is moving forward with a new location planned for 2026. This full-service Tex-Mex restaurant adds both scale and visibility to the local dining scene. A Pepper Lunch outpost is also confirmed for Leander, adding a Japanese fast-casual option the corridor didn't have before.
The retail side is arguably the bigger story. With 32 stores across the U.S., retailer Scheels will open its second Texas store at 750 County Road 180 in Leander in the fall of 2026. The business is considered an attraction, with specialty shops, boutiques and name-brand merchandise. A Scheels of that scale changes the calculus of the Saturday errand loop for anyone who currently drives to the Domain or Round Rock Premium Outlets for sporting goods and gifts.
And on Crystal Falls Parkway, the anchor development is finally in motion. Leander will soon welcome a new retail and dining space, part of a $48 million development led by Topo. Located on Crystal Falls Parkway, the project will bring 155,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, and office space, along with a new Northpoint Austin church. This addition will offer more options for shopping and dining, supporting Leander's continued growth. That's the closest large-format retail parcel to Travisso's front gate. Whatever fills those pads will define the five-minute-from-home tier for the next decade.
The Old Town Anchor That Doesn't Get Enough Credit
Ronald Reagan Boulevard is the corridor for new brands. Old Town Leander is the corridor for the places that were already good and now finally have foot traffic.
You can enjoy a fresh pastry from Casa Costa Bakery, a classic burger at Moonie's Burger House, or an evening out at Maggie Mae's Old Town Pub. Casa Costa sits at 201 Bagdad Street, Leander, TX 78641, roughly 15 minutes from Travisso Parkway depending on the CR 175 traffic. It is the answer to the "we need a real bakery for Sunday morning" question that comes up in every neighborhood thread.
Old Town itself is on the cusp of a bigger change. The Old Town Master Plan is set to enhance this lively district and transform it into an even more inviting destination. With plans for expanded parks, pedestrian-friendly paths, and public art installations, the city aims to preserve Old Town's small-town feel while adding thoughtful growth.
If you have out-of-town guests this summer and you want to give them something that isn't a chain, the low-effort itinerary is Casa Costa in the morning, the decorative trains scattered across Leander that pay homage to the town's rich rail history, each decorated by a local artist, part of what has become known as the Trail of Trains, a popular local scavenger hunt, and Moonie's for lunch. That's a genuine Leander morning, and it costs you a tank of nothing.

The one to watch
The Topo development on Crystal Falls Parkway. 155,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space that close to the Travisso entrance is a category shift, not an incremental one.
What This Means for Life at Travisso
For years, the pitch on Travisso was the Hill Country topography, the Palazzo amenities, and the Leander ISD feeder pattern. The gap was everything you had to drive elsewhere for. Between the four spring openings, the Hopdoddy/Tacodeli/Chuy's/Pepper Lunch pipeline, the Scheels announcement, and the Topo build on Crystal Falls Parkway, that gap is closing on a timeline you can actually plan around. The next twelve months will do more to shape the everyday texture of living here than any single amenity addition inside the gates.
